Just kidding! :D
11:40 am - Hello Tomorrow
It's new year soon... And then you can't help but look back at the past.

When was the last time you went through your box of memories? No, this isn't a metaphor-- I'm really referring to that box you hide your closet where you keep letters, pictures or sentimental objects. I just went through mine. Ahhhh noooossstttallllgggiiiiaaa. And I looked so crappy way back then (though I still do). Actually, everyone else looked crappy too.

And this is my last Livejournal entry.... Ever.

9:41 pm - First Impressions
If highschool truly is the best time of our lives, then I guess I'm lucky that I get to repeat another year of it. Now I know how it feels to be the new student. Unlike college where everyone begins without knowing anyone, in highschool, people practically know almost everyone. They have their own barkadas-- I mean "cliques", and I guess it's up to me to penetrate those bonds and make myself part of them... of course I can always go the cool "lone-wolf" approach... But it's difficult. Either way is difficult anyway.

And here's something I know most of you had to deal with: First Impressions.
There's no denying it, but I'm sure most of you became, at one point, plastic... no wait, that's a little too harsh... rather, not yourself, for the sake of showing new people what you want them to see. In fact, maybe some of you are still maintaining that image you established to them. These people might think of you as the noisy/rowdy/energetic and fun type of person, when in actuality, towards your real friends, you're quiet, and you're just one of those people who only laugh at other people's jokes. Or maybe, you're still maintaining that "angas" and quiet character that intimidates others not to mess with you, when you're really quite the opposite.
I think I know some people who "slightly-altered" their names just for college... Right Dominic-- errr.. I mean Paolo? Right Matt--- uhm... Cedric?:D

So for you guys, it's done. For me, it's just beginning. School starts tomorrow (well, today actually, but not really)... So how do I present myself? ;D

-As the seemingly dumb guy who asks dumb questions but gets really high grades compared to the rest? (The 'how-does-he-do-it? factor...)
-As the cool guy who wears cool clothes (never gonna happen) who talks 'cool phrases' like "Don in the haws!" or "Yo wassup nigga!?" (Gonna get my ass kicked).
-Maybe I'll take the Paolo/Cedric approach and tell them to call me "Kayan" (Short for MasaKAYAN.. cool huh!?). Kinda stupid though cuz it's longer to pronounce than "Don".
-Or maybe I can be the new school-bully and beat up people for food or money. I am the oldest after all (I should be).
-A nerd!!!
-A lone-wolf who doesn't like friends, or people's faces in fact, and doesn't really give a damn whether he eats in a bathroom-stall or never at all.
-Pretend that I don't speak english at all.

You guys have any suggestions???? Don't say "be yourself and everything will be just fine"; that would show your lack of creativity and humor.

11:41 pm - Time Capsules
While surfing the net, I found some really really old stuff related to myself... Whether it be an old website I made, or a message somewhere, it's pretty cool. I found some old star-wars sites (yeah, I was, if not, still am a big fan), some "traxz" sites(my old 'code-name'[err..]; right now it's 'duhn'), a website dedicated to #shaddap!, an old IRC chat room (pre-YM)... I even found stuff from year 2001! It's amazing, if not nostalgic seeing them, and remembering exactly what was in my mind when I made them. They serve as timecapsules.

Someday, these livejournal posts will also serve as timecapsules. One day, fifty-thousand years from now (when man has discovered ways to extend lifespans...), we're gonna search GoogleSoft (Google will have bought Microsoft by then) for our names, and then we're gonna see these livejournal entries. Some of us will go "wow, was I that much of a loser?" while others will go "Hmm.. things haven't changed". Whatever the case, we'll enjoy looking back at the past, remembering.

So now, I have a suggestion:
Post as much stuff as you can, anywhere! Just as dogs mark their territory by peeing on trees and other stuff, go put a permanent stain somewhere out there! I'm sure you won't regret it. But not only by the internet! Go write some stuff somewhere you know you'll be checking someday in the future. Record your voice in your windows Sound Recorder and save it somewhere in your cluttered "My Documents" folder so when the time comes to clean it up, you'll hear it. Write a short note and hide it inside an old shoe you'll never wear ever again. Vandalize the far end-corner of your closet normally hidden by your clothes with a message. Do anything. I'm sure you won't regret it.

That's the end of what I really wanted to say, but feel free to read on anyway... I've had other experiences of this also.. )

Today I saw Phantom of the Opera. Not the movie, but the play itself. It was really good. But quite honestly, I really believe that my class' play Juliette was much more enjoyable. No wait, it was better in fact! But of course, I'm a wee-bit biased here...

But seriously! You all enjoyed Juliette right??? And I guess the only better stuff about Phantom of the Opera are the extremely-high budget, fantastic props, and opera-style singing! But everything else, Juliette kicks Phantom's ass! Yup!!!

Then again, I'm a bit biased.

Edit: By the way, if you still haven't realized by now, that was a joke.

I just realized... Back in the Philippines, I was 18 and legal for a week... And then I moved here. Legal age here is 19. Heh.

And it's 90% final that I'm repeating my last year of highschool here. At least this time, my family gets to attend my graduation.

Everyday is an experience. I learn new things here everyday. Take this one time for example:
I was invited to a restaurant for a birthday celebration. I asked a friend of mine what the budget was, who in turn replied, "What? I don't think there is..." Of course, not wanting to take advantage, I decided to order something that was enough to fill me up, and yet, not that expensive for our host. I ordered Italian Chicken, worth 15 dollars (multiply by 53 pesos). The meal was great (even got to taste one of the spiciest sauces in the world). And then I found out that it was KKB.

Lesson learned: _________________ <- someone fill this up for me.

With the way things are right now here in Canada, I might have to repeat another year of highschool.
I get to graduate again! <sarcasm>"Oh joy."</sarcasm>   <- sarcasm

Back in Southridge, one of the requirements for our Creative Writing class was to produce a short scary movie. After procrastinating, coming up with the plotline the day before, and grabbing hold of a video camera on the day itself, the five of us were able to film this short movie.
Due to several limitations, we had to choose an easy setting. There were only five of us, and we all acted, so in most of the movie, you don't see all of us on camera at the same time; one of us would be holding the camera at a given point in time. The quality isn't also a "wow" thing here, but hey, it's the content that counts right?
It turned out not to be scary at all... In fact, it's pretty funny. But we still got a grade of 99 for this anyway. :D

When five wackos put their minds together, the result is this. I present to you,

The Insignificant Margin of San Fernando
(Don't mind the title.)
^Google Video^

Starring:
Paolo Rentero as "Dominic"
Cedric Palomares as "Ric"
Junie Soon as "Chad"
Neiman Mayo as "Dale"
Don Masakayan as "Don"

Please watch it if you have the time (which is rare nowadays...)
It's about 19 minutes long.

Enjoyyy.

Mark Anthony: Keep your eyes open!
Brutus: Sorry for Caesar.

[Brutus coughs.]

Brutus: I should have never placed my hat over Caesar.

[Brutus dies]

Mark Anthony: No!!!

[Brutus wakes up]

Brutus: Wait!
Mark Anthony: What the–
Brutus: One… One last favor.
Mark Anthony: Anything!
Brutus: Pass me my hat.

[Mark Anthony gets the hat and gives it to Brutus]

For those of you who've played Tekken, then this is a must-see. For all those that believe fighters aren't an accurate representation of reality (well, they're not), two marital arts dudes have created a live-action Tekken. The effects might be fake, but the moves aren't. If you're still a naysayer, these guys will kick your ass. I was laughing my ass off when I saw this video.

---------

Taken from http://www.ochenk.com/

"Most humans are born with the ability to hear frequencies from about 20 Hz (low) up to 20,000 Hz (high) but that range shrinks as we get older. A guy in England figured that meant kids can hear things adults can't - specifically, very high frequencies. He created a device that pulses an annoying tone at about 15,000 Hz with the idea that when the device is used, it will repel kids while being unnoticed by adult."

So how high can you hear? I reached 24,000 Hz...

11,000 Hz
12,000 Hz
13,000 Hz
14,000 Hz
15,000 Hz
16,000 Hz
17,000 Hz
18,000 Hz
19,000 Hz
20,000 Hz
21,000 Hz
22,000 Hz
23,000 Hz
24,000 Hz
25,000 Hz

And by the way, what I hear at 16,000 slightly resembles what I hear in a muted television. A sound that my parents can't seem to hear. Maybe that's why.

10:44 pm - Feeling like crap
The Stolen Sidekick

What happens when you lose your cellphone? Why, you try calling it to listen for the ring, so that you may know where to find it. But what if while calling, someone suddenly answers it? Why, you ask him to return it as a good human being he is. But what happens if he refuses to do so, and calls you an asshole? Why, you make a website, make it known to millions of geeks all around the world, allow them to stalk the hell out of the cellphone thief, all from the very comforts of your house... or not quite. In a similar case, Evan's (or rather, his friend's) Motorolla Sidekick was lost in a taxi. Upon finding out that someone actually took it, he contacted them, asking them for it back. Long story short, they refused, and the rest followed. It's a very interesting saga that can be seen here.

Want a cool toy? Try out this flashlight, that can shoot out shotgun rounds.

-----

On to other stuff... I haven't been feeling well lately. In fact, I look like cow-dung right now. I even took the liberty of taking a picture of myself just so I can show you. I guarantee you, it'll make your bowels inside go out-- And not through the ass too.

11:38 pm - In Canada
Long time no update.

It's been two months since I last updated, and two months since I got here to Canada. So what have I been up to?

I currently live on the 22nd floor of an apartment with a fantastic view of Vancouver to the west, and the mountains to the north. The apartment includes a gym, pool area, laundry area, and is conveniently located near the skytrain (making commuting way easier), a clinic, a drugstore, grocery, a mall (the biggest in west canada), another mall, a gradeschool (for my little sister), a highschool, and many other stuff. All of them are a few blocks away. It still sucks though cuz there isn't any pet shop nearby. I like pets.

I can say that I've been acting like a bum. A bum with chores at least. Never-ending dishes to wash, forever-dusty carpets to vacuum, abyssmal laundry to wash, and many more. I have been watching television way more often too (Prison Break, 24, American Idol-- Oh by the way, guess what; Taylor won!!! -- Desperate Housewives, The Elen Show, and many many more).

I have been going out of the house though, so I'm not totally a bum. I've yet to explore all the surrounding blocks though, and I've also yet to mentally-map Metrotown (that big-ass mall). It's just too damn big. It's supposed to have twelve movie theatres, and two starbucks.

I've also been looking for colleges and universities here. There's a slight possibility that I might have to repeat grade 12 though. Two highschool diplomas; how great is that? But anyway, I had the opportunity to visit the main campus Simon Fraser University last week. It's the university I'm aiming for.

Simon Fraser University:
The campus of SFU is... I don't even know how I can begin to describe it. It gives a sense of freedom mixed with responsibility. The campus has several restaurants, ran by students taking up Culinary; the food is cooked and served by the students, so it's cheap, it's served professionally, and it's good. The campus also has several stores-- hell it even has it's own mall. Yeah, you read it right. Some stuff that also caught my attention was the presence of an arcade center... situated underneath a bar. All these, inside the campus.

No, I'm not gunning for this university because of the campus, but rather, for the program they offer. In fact, the program/course I'm vying for will be in another Simon Fraser campus. This other campus has walls almost made purely of glass.

I'm feeling lazy to continue this update. So that's that for now. Next time I'll update will probably be another month or two.

Oh by the way, check my site out.
To have someone spend countless of hours making a site, and yet, no one sees the finished product is such a waste.
It has pictures too. *YOU* may be in it.

10:03 pm - And tomorrow,
The week has been a blast. Looking back at the last few days... All I can say is "wow"...

Tuesday was my birthday. Some of us went to Watercamp in Josephines, Kawit. Swimming, food, our own villa, and laughter all around.

On Wednesday night... Wow wow wow. I've always thought that these things only happen in movies. I was kidnapped. Nabbed inside my own house. I was blindfolded, and brought inside a vehicle. The interesting part was, my captors maintained silence all throughout; not a word spoken. Not even a cough. After 30 minutes, we finally arrived somewhere. They led me, still blindfolded, inside a house. They even had a gun poined behind me. Finally, they removed my blindfold. "Surprise!" They were all there: Ana, Neiman, Bym, Junie, AA, Andrew, Mikey, Bea Luts, Marga, Krizia... Even Carl and Cedric arrived later on. I found out that they were already planning for my abduction ever since the last days of school. They even sketched out their plans. During dinner, they showed videos and messages of people for me. Sina Bym and Junie even performed. There are so many things and details that really deserve to be mentioned. To sum it up, the night was great. It was truly f to the antastic (yack).

On Thursday, I went out with Ana.

On Friday, we were supposed to go to Marga's house. Something happened, so we went to atc instead... Again.

Saturday was Paolo's birthday (it's not too late to greet him). We went to his mansion in Cabuyao. The compound is bigger than my village. It was great hanging out with my friends again. We even played hide and seek. At night, we lay on blankets in the middle of the huge garden, under the moon and the stars (naks). We ate dinner out in Paseo, and then we went home. That night, I said goodbye to many of my friends, and more-than-friend, for the last time (in some years at least).

And now it's Sunday. I'm packing for tomorrow. No wait... I'm packing not only for tomorrow, but for...

Thanks everyone. Thanks everyone for everything. See you guys soon.

And ohyeah, I just remembered: I'm leaving for Canada tomorrow. Byeee!!! :D

Would you rather be REMEMBERED for eternity as Adolf Hitler, the man who caused the death of millions in World War 2?

Or would you rather be FORGOTTEN as that Russian Conscript who died when he stepped on a landmine?

Southridge rocks.

I know many people who hate their highschools; they all can't wait to leave their damned school. The only thing keeping them wanting to stay is because they are in the company of their friends. However, somehow, Southridge is different. I love the damned school.
